    I work as a property tax assessor in Douglas County, I’m wondering if you folks have looked at the amount of acres taxed at full value 15 years ago, versus the amount of acres taxed at full value today…..In Price County where I live, we have lost 181 thousand acres, from the previous 472thousand acres,,,home owners pick up the difference. (re: Use-Value, Forest Crop Land, expanding Gov land, and the new classification 5m or call it as it is, who you are related to.

    This shift is compounded by higher losses in Southern Counties, which is a double whammy to homeowners in the North. It’s the northern schools that are in trouble and lose out on state aid because of their increasing values, while the south benefits.

    A trailer house in Dairyland will pay more in Property Taxes than a developer with 300 acres outside of Madison,

    Eliminate Use-Value, curb DNR forest Crop land, and a moratorium on tax exempt land would decrease taxes in the North

    Mr. Elkins, would you then tell me how your assessment can go up by 6K in Douglas Co. because you have a brick front on your house?
